Hillberg & Berk Brides: Ali September 05 2014
Ali and Bryden’s wedding was all about rustic-chic meets country-charm, meets big-city-couple. The bride set her priorities straight from the start, “it was centred on our families and friends, and making sure they enjoyed their day.”
Ali knew that, with a unique wedding venue and a love for “being different,” she needed to find a dress with serious wow factor. After some scouting, she decided for an ivory, mermaid-style, lace gown with a unique sweetheart neckline featuring small feathers.
The dress, a Pronovias design, travelled all the way from Calgary and Ali, who knows the importance of every detail, had the dress tweaked to perfection. She removed some layers, added a rhinestone belt, and cut the neckline to form a deeper sweetheart. Throw in a veil, a beautiful hairpiece, and gold shoes, and all that was left to perfect was the bridal bling.
“I knew that I wanted to design my own bridal jewelry from Hillberg & Berk. I had a vision and wanted the jewellery to tie together every other detail. I wanted stackable gemstone bracelets and, again, I wanted something unique to match my personality.”
After meeting with our stylist, Ali saw her whole wedding incorporated into the bridal bracelets she designed. “When Emily showed me the final project, I was so excited...I shared the pictures with everyone I could! The best part was when I picked them up: everyone at the store was ogling them!” Ali’s bracelets incorporated pearls and semi-precious stones in shades ranging from peach to champagne and ivory, to match the wedding palette. “Gold, rose gold, and silver sparkle balls added that extra glam.”
Her favourite moment? “Walking down the aisle and seeing Bryden at the altar. Like in a movie, the clouds parted and the sun shone down just as my parents walked me down the aisle.”
