Diamonds 101 May 23 2014
Have you ever felt nervous making a life-changing purchase? Signing that rental agreement, making that down payment, driving away in that new car that your father–in-law says has bad consumer reports, but came in such a cute shade of baby-blue? How about buying that diamond ring that will grace your finger for the rest of your life, and then will pass on to your children, and maybe their children?
Buying a diamond ring is stressful stuff. First, you are going to be spending a considerable amount. Second, you will wear it for many years to come, so you need to make sure that you will love that ring now and forever. Third, it is not just about you: your sweetheart is a part of this decision too.
Whether you are the kind of couple that will pick a ring together, or you want to surprise your bride-to-be with an unexpected – but perfect – diamond ring, and even if you are already sending him photos of your favourite designs, the best way to make an informed decision is to learn a little bit about diamond jewellery.
Did you know the entire retail staff at our jewellery store in Regina had to study for weeks in order to be ready to sell diamonds? (Did we mention that we are the exclusive Tacori retailer in Regina? Yes we mentioned it!)They even had to take quizzes. So fear not, there is no shame in admitting that you are not a diamond expert. As it turns out, there are only a few things you need to know to turn into a knowledgeable diamond purchaser. They are called the 4 c’s: Cut, Clarity, Colour, and Carat, and we will dedicate our next four blog posts to each one of them.
